Once you learn to type properly on a computer keyboard, you can answer this question yourself.
If you don't learn to type properly then you work in a similar way to a child learning to ride a bike with stabilisers, you get there eventually but your journey is slow, constrained and not very elegant compared with people who can type properly.
How is it possible to type accurately without looking at the keyboard?
To imagine how this can possibly work, think of when you have seen people knitting and talking at the same time. The work goes on automatically while they take part in a conversation, their conscious mind is doing something they enjoy while their hands get on with the work of producing the knitted item. Touch Typing is very similar to the above example, you can type while watching TV, talking to someone or while giving 100% of your attention to the thought of what you are typing, rather than to where the keys are located.
I can already type quickly with just two or three fingers!
People who use two or three fingers to type often say that they are a fast typist, this is not correct, it is true that they are doing a lot of work, their hands are moving all over the place which makes them think that they are a fast typist. A second reason that they think they are working quickly is the fact that their mind is having to think about what they are typing as well as where to locate the keys required, this is further work for the untrained typist. Just to make things even more difficult for themselves, most typists have to look at the keyboard, then at the screen to check what is appearing, back at the keyboard to look at the keys, then up to the screen again etc. If this is your typing style then you are working hard but getting little done for your effort.
